What’s involved?
Spending 1-2-1 time with a mum cat and her kittens, or a family of young kittens, in your home until they are ready to return to our shelter for rehoming. During this time, Lothian Cat Rescue remains responsible for meeting the financial cost of the animals (food, litter, vet costs etc).
Your role during this time you role involves:
- Ensuring the family remain happy and healthy
- Socialising the kittens
- Keeping in touch with our Shelter to update us on the progress of your guests
Time Commitment
This is a relatively short-term commitment – up to 8 weeks. But during that time it is a full-time commitment.
Requirements
You must be comfortable with our feline friends – experience of fostering is an advantage but not a requirement since full training and support will be given.
You must have a spare room in which the cat/kittens can be based for the duration of their stay with you.
You must have your own transport and be able and willing to transport the cats to us and, in the event of an emergency, to our vet.
You must be up to date with your tetanus boosters.
